It’s more important than ever to find a reputable crypto lawyer. With the crypto market changing so fast, the wrong representation can leave you in a serious bind.

Here are some things to consider when looking for a reputable crypto lawyer:

How much experience do they have in crypto?

This seems obvious, but there may be lawyers who are new to the crypto industry and do not have the experience you need. You don’t want a crypto lawyer who is still learning while advising you. Years of experience really matter in this category.

How much experience does the crypto lawyer you’re considering have in the area you’re in?

There are many different aspects of crypto, and you need to dive deeper and make sure the lawyer you’re considering has experience in the exact area for which you need help. General crypto experience won’t help unless they have dealt with the regulations and issues. Do they have other non-competing clients with similar challenges?

How busy are they?

Of course you want a successful, reputable crypto lawyer, but you also need to make sure they have time for you. Are there other associates in the firm? Is he or she able to meet on your schedule? Do your sessions together seem rushed or is there enough time to cover all your questions and plan out strategies and next steps?

How customized is the advice?

Are they paying attention to what you need or just providing cookie cutter advice? Do they take the time to learn about your specific circumstances and come with strategic recommendations? This part of the evaluation is crucial and if you don’t feel it’s being met, you may need to consider a different reputable crypto lawyer.

Are they respected in their field?

If the lawyers are being asked to speak at conferences, on panels and otherwise serving as thought leaders, it’s also a good sign as that means they have a good reputation within the industry and with their peers.
